Rehvid.com is one of the largest tyre importers and sellers in Estonia that works with many well-known Estonian companies.

Rehvid.com or Vevid AS ordered a new e-shop from us in order to successfully sell tyres and rims. Their existing solution was not working well enough, as their former web development partner was unable to offer well-functioning solutions in a short time.

Vevid AS ordered the analysis, design and system development from us. During the analysis we mapped the client’s actual needs and mapped them in great detail to ensure that development process went as smoothly and quickly as possible. We also presented the client with wireframes with the analysis, which were the basis for starting the design. We asked the client to provide highly specific input information before starting with the design, as it allowed us to present the initial draft of the website. After that, we could move on with subviews and responsive views (for use on mobiles). The development stage is often the longest and most important part of the project and we have described its critical parts here.

The most complicated part of the Rehvid.com project was interfacing the Hansa accounting and warehouse management software with the e-shop to be built by us. As the client wanted to leave the entire product and corporate customer management side with pricing solutions in the Hansa system, we were forced to adapt our standard e-shop solution according to the client’s requests. Web Expert wrote a separate JSON request API for the data requested and sent from Hansa, which the partner who specialises in Hansa was able to use to create correct data requests from Hansa. The main challenge was displaying the price information of a large number of warehouses and price information, which meant that our online shop database had to be well optimised to quickly process large quantities of data.

The online shop of Rehvid.com also requested the addition of the option to do searches on the basis of Estonian licence plate numbers, which would give the user the tyre and rim dimensions suitable for their vehicle. When the user enters the licence plate number, a list of suitable tyre dimensions is displayed for them, which makes it considerably easier for the user to find the correct tyres. The clear API made interfacing the service provided by the Road Administration with our online shop relatively easy.

In order to make purchasing tyres even easier for ordinary clients, we interfaced the e-shop of Rehvid.com with the Tiresaddict database, which contains information about various car makes and models, and the tyres suitable for them. E-shop users must enter the make, model and year of the car and the e-shop system will show them a selection of tyres with the correct dimensions. Finding suitable tyres is easy for the user and Rehvid.com makes a sale with which the user is satisfied!

As a relatively standard solution, we also interfaced the bank links of Swedbank and SEB, the credit card module and the LHV hire purchase module with the Rehvid.com e-shop.

The entire system we developed is also mobile-friendly, i.e. responsive. This means that the elements on the website adapt according to the size of the device’s screen. The website is easy to view on a large screen or on the small screen of a smartphone. The functionality remains the same on mobile phones and standard computer screens, but the primary elements can be highlighted better for mobile users by playing with the placement of the elements.
